Scotty McCreery, American Idol Season 10’s Champion, got hit by a bouncing baseball directly to his throat during a game with East Wake High. This was disclosed by entertainment news April 23, 2012.

After winning the American Idol season 10 reality singing contest, Scotty went on to be a reputable Billboard name with his songs: “I Love You This Good,” and “Clear as Day.” He earned several awards and nominations for his songs and is now an established international singing icon.

Scotty returned to Garner High School and was pitching for his team when the incident happened.

Understandably, damage to his vocal organs would be detrimental to his singing career. Further reports revealed that baseball coach Derik Goffena said it scared the American Idol champion.

After the accident though, Scotty bravely stayed in the game for three more innings, which East Wake High won, 3-2. Further reports stated that Scotty was not injured in any significant manner.
