The reactions of American Idol 2013 viewers to the Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey’s purported feud are varied, especially with the recent episode aired on January 23, 2013.
During the first two episodes of American Idol season 12, there were more instances when Mariah and Nicki agreed to vote or not vote for the contestants. There were times that they sparred verbally but these were artists’ differences and they have obviously enjoyed judging the contestants.
On the recent episode, however, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey’s “disagreements” became more pronounced.
“We’re trying to help her, as opposed to helping her with her outfit,” One of Mariah’s statements to Nicki.
Here are some reactions of fans on Twitter:
“Hey Judges, this isn’t about you…. It’s about the singers. Get over yourself and stop fighting, it’s annoying.”
“I think I can agree with Nicki on that one. Randy and Mariah were being tough on that girl. These #AmericanIdol auditions are getting intense.”
“On American idol. She’s making good points. Calling the other judges out on their bs. #NickiMinaj“
“New respect for @nickiminaj. Actually my first time ever hearing #nickiminaj speak, and now I like her.”
Some fans talked about how Mariah Carey is a legend already and should be respected, as such, by Nicki Minaj, while other fans praised Nicki for her candid observations.
The two idol judges have side comments that are directed to each other, and these side comments excite some viewers. There are fans though who said that the contest should not focus on the judges but on the contestants.
Meanwhile, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban act as the “scratching posts” or shock absorbers, as Keith stated. Still, all goes well at the end of the show for the American Idol 2013 judges.
