Nigel Lythgoe tweeted today that the “California Dreamin” Theme for American Idol 2012 will feature the Idol contestants singing songs from bands or singers from California.
The second song would be songs the American Idol contenders wished they had written.
Nigel, the Emmy Award Winning British Television Producer, came up with the second theme that the Idol hopefuls would definitely like.
Let’s see if Nigel and the American Idol mentors would choose any of these songs from “California singers.”
“I’ll Be Missing You“– by Faith Evans
Originally from Florida and New Jersey but relocated to Los Angeles for her singing career became popular for her Grammy Award winning song “I’ll Be Missing You” with Puff Daddy and the band.
“Friday I’ll Be Over U” by Allison Iraheta
From Los Angeles, California and incidentally the 4th placer on American Idol’s Season 8. She “Friday I’ll Be Over U“.
“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) by Kay Perry
Katy is from Santa Barbara California. She also had other Billboard hits like:
“California Gurls”
“Teenage Dream”
“Firework”
“E.T.”
The second song suggestion: (Their choice)
The Top 4 American Idol 2012 contenders may want to include “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “I Believe,” “Impossible Dream,” and the other classic songs, because the best singers on American Idol’s past seasons had tackled these songs.
It would be interesting to note if Joshua Ledet could sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water” more powerfully than Clay Aiken of American Idol Season 2, like what Joshua did with “To Love Somebody.”
