Are you going to Lollapalooza? Or more specifically, to the Hobipalooza? Some of you may be attending this music festival for the first time because of BTS’ J-Hope who headlines the main stage on July 31, 2022, Sunday (Green Day) at Grand Park, Chicago.

J-Hope or Hobi, as fans call him, will be the first South Korean act to headline the main stage at a major U.S. music festival.

Reportedly, there may be around 100 thousand attendees per day, and this huge festival crowd could be the first time you are attending as an ARMY, just to watch J-Hope perform.

J-Hope has been known to act as the “sunshine” of the BTS. His currently released Jack in the Box album has shown the darker side of him, but all the 10 songs on the track list slap, with the lead single, “More” ranking #1 on more than 60 countries around the world and remaining at #1 for 3 days on the Worldwide iTunes Chart.

For sure, Hobi will own the stage. He has been known for his tremendous stage presence that many ARMYs made him their bias-wrecker after stage performances. So, there will be no question that he will deliver with flying colors.

To help you enjoy your Hobipalooza to the max.

Guide to J-Hope’s Lollapalooza

1. Stay with fellow ARMYs

There will surely be other ARMYs who will be attending Hobi’s Lollapalooza, so try to get in touch with your moots who will be attending. Staying in groups is safer than being alone.

2. Avoid alcohol

When you’re drunk, your mind can’t control your body movements and that’s dangerous.

So, the best option is NOT to go for alcoholic drinks, so all your senses could fully enjoy the festival.

Anyway, alcohol is prohibited to bring inside the festival park; hence, just avoid it before going inside.

3. Always wear your wristband when in the venue

You can go in and out of Lollapalooza using your wristband, hence, don’t lose it. You may want to attach your emergency number in case you lose consciousness, etc. The wristband is waterproof, so you can take a shower, or do other water-related activities.

4. Beware of thieves

Reportedly, there were about 120 phones stolen during the past festivals. Therefore, remember to activate the “Find my iPhone” app if you have an iPhone, and be ready with your Apple ID.

Take note also of your phone’s unique IMEI number so you can prove that the phone is yours. To learn your IMEI number, dial *#06# and your IMEI number will appear.

Keep your valuables safe in your zipped pocket or belongings where thieves cannot easily assess them.

5. Expect an airport style of entrance screening

There will be three stages you would go through before you can enter the venue. First, is the health check section where your COVID-19 proof negative test is checked. The second is where they scan your wristbands to check for authenticity. The third is a thorough search of your bag and you would go through a metal detector.

6. Never connect to an unknown Wi-Fi

Make sure no one can access your phone because they can steal your personal information. If you want to use your online banking, do it within your network, away from online intruders.

Remember, to bring an extra portable charger, but there are available mobile chargers at the entrance of the venue.

7. Kids 10 years old and younger are free

You could bring two of your kids to the Lollapalooza Music Festival to watch J-Hope perform. Only two kids are allowed per adult.

You should decide whether the event is safe enough for you or not. If you’re new to Chicago, you may want to forgo bringing your kids, as it could be difficult for you, to babysit your family as well.

Should you do decide to bring your tot, you could bring baby strollers inside the venue.

8. Comfortable sneakers or combat boots are recommended

The ground can become muddy or soft, and wearing military-inspired boots can prevent any mishap as you go around. Nike or converse sneakers are also recommended.

9. Wear Ault Diapers

There is no way you could go out from the crowds surrounding you during the festival, so attend to your personal toilet activities first before going to the concert, and yes, WEAR ADULT DIAPERS! At least you can pee anytime during the event. Of course, you have to attend to your bowel movements first before the festival and before entering that throng of thousands of attendees.

Remember, it’s not a BTS concert where everyone looks out for everyone.

What You Can Bring to Lollapalooza

Just like any other BTS concert, there are certain things that you can and cannot bring to the event. You can bring the following:

1. Festival Wristband

Remember to bring your festival wristband. Double check in your bag before leaving for the venue. You can have two additional entries, in and out of the venue during your stay.

You may need a proper ID as well. Just be ready to have them at hand, when needed.

2. COVID-19 Documents

Currently, there is no local requirement for proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter the venue (updated 2022 rules), but it’s best to bring your documents, in case they change the requirements at the last minute.

You could bring your proof of a certificate of your COVID-19 negative test. Verify that you have brought the paper and have saved a digital copy on your cellphone.

Nevertheless, if you’re unvaccinated the CDC is encouraging you to bring your own reliable mask. You’re not protecting only yourself but also your co-attendees.

3. Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags measuring 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches

You can also bring clutch purses measuring no bigger than 4.5 inches by 5.5 inches, with no more than 1 pocket. Backpacks and bags with multiple pockets are not allowed inside the festival park.

4. Sheets, towels, blankets, and any appropriate clothing (ponchos)

It can be breezy in some evenings, and you may want to spread some sheets to sit down on, so you could bring them.

5. Empty reusable plastic or aluminum water containers

This is for your proper hydration. There are more than 30 hydration units in six different locations throughout Lollapalooza where you can refill your bottles. No water or breakable containers.

6. Non-professional camera or binoculars without detachable lenses or other attached accessories

Professional cameras and professional recording equipment are not allowed though. However, you can go ahead and capture those awesome J-Hope poses and dances with your simple camera or phone.

Make sure you have enough space in your device for your photos. You may want to use iCloud or similar online apps.

There are also mobile charging pack rentals at the entrance of the park if you didn’t bring an extra battery.

7. Hand sanitizers and sunscreen (in a non-spray container)

Ensure that these are unopened before the inspection to avoid suspicion. Remember that there is still the danger of catching COVID through infected hands.

In that connection, you should ensure your safety by bringing your own mask. The N-95 mask can provide your utmost protection.

8. Maintenance medication

You could bring your maintenance medication as long as you have the proper prescription from a doctor and/or the original medicine container with your name labeled on it.

What You Cannot Bring to Lollapalooza

1. Illicit or illegal drugs

There’s a reason why uniformed and plain-clothed law enforcers are patrolling the area; they don’t want anyone doing drugs inside the venue.

Reportedly, music festivals are among the most common events where some guests use marijuana, MDMA, cocaine, and other addictive substances.

The repercussions of drug use during the festival could be serious. Your drugs would be confiscated, and the local authority could charge you with criminal charges. Your ticket could also be revoked for the entire festival or for one day, depending on the severity of your violation.

2. Hammocks, foldable chairs, inflatable furniture, coolers, tents, or selfie sticks.

You can bring an umbrella though that should measure 42 inches or below. In this regard, some ARMYs believe that BTS lightsticks (ARMY bombs) may not be allowed as well.

An enterprising ARMY, (myrcka7hobipalooza), however, asked the Lollapalooza account on Twitter about it, and here’s the reply:

Perhaps, you can bring your ARMY bomb but be ready to know where you can keep it, in case they will not allow it inside the venue. It’s too precious to discard, right? Imagine the BTS happy memories, you have experienced using it.

3. Personal motorized vehicles such as motorbikes, skateboards, scooters, bicycles, and the like.

These are prohibited inside the venue. There are designated parking lots outside the park. 2022 Lollapalooza parking areas, you could visit Spot HERO.

9. Large spiked pieces of jewelry and similar materials.

You’re not there to impress J-Hope, you’re there to enjoy his performances, so do away with expensive and extravagant jewelry. They will only hamper your movements.

10. Giveaways, stickers, and the like

ARMYs are known for their giving nature (free giveaways), especially during BTS events. Nevertheless, this generous action is prohibited within the Lollapalooza venue. This also applies to flyers and samples.

Perhaps, you can hand your giveaways to your fellow ARMYs a safe distance away from the festival’s venue, or have a meet-up outside the festival area at a designated time and place.

11. Outside food

But don’t worry because inside and around the festival grounds are more than 30 food vendors ready to satiate your hungry or picky palate.

Whether you’re a vegetarian or meat lover, you will find a variety of dishes in Chow Town the food court, or food outlets surrounding Grand Park. The city itself is a great haven for food gourmets.

There are all types of food in Lollapalooza, from simple snacks to full sumptuous meals that you can enjoy when you want a decent meal.

You will need these energy boosters for sure because you would be spending so much energy, jumping, singing, shouting, screaming, and dancing with Hobi.
