“Pastillas Girl” of “It’s Showtime” Elicits a Complaint Letter from Gabriela; MTRCB Notified

MANILA, Philippines – The “Pastillas Girl” segment of “It’s Showtime”, an ABS-CBN noontime show, has reportedly elicited a complaint letter from the Gabriela group (a group that protects the rights of women). This is due to immense public outcry of the segment allegedly “pimping” the Pastilla’s Girl” to various men.

The letter was addressed to the TV station and the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Below is an excerpt of the letter of complaint from Gabriela:

“We wish to inform you that we have been receiving complaints regarding exploitation of women in relation to your serye ‘Pastillas Girl’ since it aired this month in Showtime. As an organization dealing with the protection and advancement of women’s rights, we cannot dismiss such complaints.

We have been consistent in our statement that competition to sell the show and the ratings war should not be done at the expense of women.

In the interest of fairness, we would like to give you an opportunity to respond to such allegations publicly.”

The “Pastillas Girl” segment was obviously created to counter GMA7’s ALDUB fever. ALDUB is the pairing of Actor Alden Richards and Dubsmash Queen Yaya Dub.

Ratings, however, showed that there’s no contest, because ALDUB’s Kalye Serye has reigned supreme in TV ratings and all over social media networks.

ABS-CBN and the MTRCB have yet to respond to the complaint.
