MANILA, Philippines – A Hero’s Welcome awaits Janine Tugonon in her hometown Orion, Bataan after she arrived in Manila this Saturday, December 22, 2012.
Despite her loss, Filipinos consider Janine Tugonon as the winner of the Miss Universe 2012 Beauty Pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. The crowned winner is Miss USA, Olivia Culpo.
Janine Tugonon had given a superb answer to the judge’s question that made Filipino audience confident that she would win the competition. She did not though, and this sparked the show of support on Twitter from Filipinos all over the world.
Filipinos are loyal fans who would stick to their idols win or lose, just like what they did to boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao. Everyone loved him when he was winning belt after belt, and everyone loved him all the more when he lost to Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez.
According to News TV Live, Governor Enrique Garcia and Mayor Joel Payumo would welcome Janine Tugonon in Orion. They also expressed their support with whatever plans she has.
Mayor Payumo said that Janine’s triumph brought honor and prestige to the province.
