2012 Olympics Logo
The 2012 Olympics logo has been marked as a racist symbol by Iran as reported by World sports news, February 28. The Olympics logo which was released 2007 has undergone some undesirable comments but no one has threatened withdrawal yet from the games.
The complaint of Iran was formalized through a letter sent to the International Olympic Committee and stated that the logo was perceived by them as a representation of the word Zion; Zion referring to Israel. Israel and Iran have been long time “enemies” since time immemorial. In the past, there were instances in which Iran has withdrawn allegedly because of the presence of an Israeli player. Now, Iran may make the logo’s “Zion” interpretation as a reason for withdrawing from the 2012 London Olympics.
The 2012 Olympics will be held in London and would feature all the best athletes in the world to compete in various categories. The Olympic stadium for the 2012 London Olympics will be West Ham. It aims to bring countries together in one momentous adventure of a lifetime; to foster camaraderie and forge new friendships between the people of different culture and beliefs.
The International Olympic Committee under the leadership of Jacques Rogge has reiterated that the 2012 Olympics logo is just a representation of the number 2012 and nothing more.
