Here are the developments of MTRCB’s Vice Ganda and Ion Perez’s case for alleged indecent acts on their TV show, “It’s Showtime”.
This alleged indecent incident was reported to MTRCB several times, which prompted the board to take action, after reviewing the reported show’s segment, “Isip Bata”.
The MTRCB (Movie and Television Review Classification Board) chairperson Lala Sotto and the agency then suspended “It’s Showtime” for 12 days on September 4.
Consequently, the University of the Philippines (UP) Department of Broadcast Communication called for the resignation of MTRCB’s Chairperson, Lala Sotto.
According to them:
“We also call for the resignation of MTCRB Chair, Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto, whose pronouncements on national TV evidently compromised her position and objectivity as a public official.”
To date, MTRCB has yet to reply to UP Broadcast’s resignation statement.
Afterward, ABS-CBN TV Network planned to file a Motion for Reconsideration, stating that, the network is also working with the MTRCB to ensure that “It’s Showtime” will continue to bring joy and entertainment to the show’s noontime viewers.

On Twitter, some Netizens have tweeted their disappointment over the MTRCB’s decision.
Recently, there were even threatening messages on social media pages that included death and rape threats against Chairperson Lala Sotto.
MTRCB has issued a formal statement after the threatening messages to Sotto.

“Lala Sotto, the Chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) became the target of alarming online attacks…”
MTRCB further declared that the Chairperson:
“Lala Sotto, is a dedicated public servant who has spent her career advocating for responsible and inclusive media content.”
