“Spring Day” by BTS Reigns in Melon Chart as the Longest Charting Song at 1000 Days

The song, “Spring Day” by BTS reigns as the longest charting song on the Melon Chart at 1000 days. It’s aptly named The Queen of the legendary septet’s discography.

The hashtag, #우리의_봄날_1000일의_나날 #SpringDay1000Days, has trended on Twitter as BTS’ Fandom, ARMY, celebrates the event. BTS has broken another record (again) with this new phenomenon. The song talks about a friend that was lost; the feeling of missing this friend, and being able to meet someday.

According to some ARMY’s analysis, the song was in reference to the victims of the Sewol Ferry disaster on April 16, 2014, when around 294 people died, including students, who were on a field trip to Jeju Island in South Korea. Among the 476 passengers, there were 250 teens from Ansan’s Dawon High School. It was one of the deadliest ferry disasters that occurred in Korean waters during peace time.

However, BTS didn’t confirm the fans’ theory, as they wanted their listeners to create their own individual interpretations of their songs; albeit they donated to the grieving families of the victims. The BTS members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook donated 10 million won each, with BigHit adding 30 million, for a total of 100 million won.

What’s so special about this Queen? Spring Day has a certain haunting but beautiful melody that entices listeners to bask in each note. When the meaning of the lyrics is revealed to the listener, he’s then pulled, even more, into the song and into the BTS’ magical rabbit hole.
