Philippines’ Superstar, Nora Aunor, Nominated Anew for Best Actress at the Asian Awards for the Film “Thy Womb”

MANILA, PhilippinesSuperstar Nora Aunor is nominated anew for Best Actress at the Asian Awards in Hongkong for her role in the film,Thy Womb.” The winners will be announced on March 18, 2013.

Nora Aunor has already won Best Actress from several international and local award giving bodies for “Thy Womb.” Here are some of her awards for the film:

Aside from Nora Aunor, “Thy Womb” also starred Bembol Rocco and Lovi Poe and was directed by multi-awarded director Brillante Mendoza, who won also Best Director from the first three, above-mentioned organizations.

The film was also featured at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF,) which is one of the major film festivals in Asia. It was invited too for screening at the 37th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada.

Thy Womb” has an impressive international record of recognition for a low-budgeted film that depicts the life of the Badjao people in the Philippines. Nora Aunor portrayed a Badjao wife, who made the ultimate sacrifice of searching for a woman who could give a child to her husband, because she was barren.

Meanwhile, Eddie Garcia has also been nominated in the same award giving body for Best Actor for his film “Bwakaw.”

Based on this outstanding record, it is appropriate to say that Nora Aunor is still the Superstar of Philippine Cinema.
