MANILA, Philippines – Arnel Pineda, the Filipino lead singer of the American Band, Journey, performed with song-writer, singer, David Pomeranz on Kris TV, on January 25, 2013. They sang a duet, which brought back the wonderful, old songs. It was a magical moment.
Meanwhile, at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF), Arnel’s documentary, “Don’t Stop Believin’: Every Man’s Journey,” directed by Ramona Diaz, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Arnel Pineda, 45, was discovered by the American Band, Journey’s guitarist, Neal Schon, through Arnel’s YouTube videos, where he covered Journey’s songs. He was then a member of a local band.
Pineda was contacted by Schon to audition in the states in 2007, and that was the start of a colorful career for Arnel as the lead singer of Journey.
His albums “Revelation,” “Journey Live in Manila,” and “Eclipse,” were all popular albums with “Revelation” on the Top Billboard songs. In 2012 he acted as himself in the movie, “Don’t Stop Believin’: Every Man’s Journey.”
