Netizens pointed out that he was hand-washing when he should be acknowledging his responsibility.

The interviewer asked point blank:

“How do you respond to the criticisms that your government reacted too slowly?”

The president was visibly rattled by the question because he momentarily paused:

“Well, I would like to ask these critics, what else we could have done given the resources we do have and given the magnitude of the problem.”

The BBC interviewer stated:

“I have spoken to people in Tacloban that told me, they were without fresh water for a week, without food for a week, and they were getting no supplies. Is that an appropriate response?”

The president said:

“Perhaps, you should ask the Local Government of Tacloban ….”

  1. I couldn’t finish the video clip. I wanted to throw up. Good thing there’s this reporter with that fantastic accent. It made the experience less horrendous. But not enough to get over the horror.
