Warner Bros. has revealed that Ben Affleck would be Batman in the upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel.” He would star along with Henry Cavill, who would maintain his role as Superman. The movie is set for release on July 17, 2015.
Twitter went abuzz with the news and “Ben Affleck as Batman” trended as fans supported the interesting revelation. Meanwhile, #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck trended later as people who were opposed to the idea suggested who they think would be a better Batman. Christian Bale played Batman/Bruce Wayne in previous Batman movies.
The reactions of tweeps were varied; some loved the idea but some reasoned out that Ben Affleck is a superb actor but the fact that “Daredevil” was not a resounding success, meant he was not cut-out as a superhero.
Some defended Ben Affleck as Batman, saying that “Ben Affleck could be a great Batman.”
Reportedly, Director Zack Snyder expressed his optimism saying:
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman.”
Whether fans approve or not of Ben Affleck as Batman, Warner Bros. made a choice and fans just have to deal with it.
